WE TOTALLY SKIPPED SCHOOL TODAY!!
(and it was MY idea!)
I am missing the year round schedule with "off-track" breaks every few months....where we just get to be lazy, stay in our pajamas all day, and do fun things. Weekends are too busy and go by too quickly for my liking. I got off work early, crawled into bed with Mason and drifted off into dream land. Madden came in and wakes me up saying, "Mom, we are going to be late for school!" I made him crawl into bed with me and whispered to him....."What do you say we skip school today, go sledding, eat lunch at McDonald's, play the Wii, and have a family nap this afternoon in my bed!"
And the party began. Macks and Marley joined us in bed.....where we cuddled, made lovely sounds with the whoopie cushion, and played with toys.

Half way through our playing Madden gets a very serious look on his face....."Mom? I just remembered....we were going to learn about Theadora today in school....and I was really excited about it. "
"Uhhhh, I'm not sure who that guy is, but I could google it for you and we could learn about it together?"
"MOOOOM! It's not a guy...it's a girl. She is the wife of Justinian. They lived at Constantinople during the first half of the tenth century."
"Uhhhhh.....riiiiight. I knew that. Silly me?!?! "
(my children are speaking more and more jibberish lately....I'm loving their new school and its history focus)
We figured if we were skipping school we might as well eat a healthy breakfast....Eggo waffles, powdered donuts, and sprite!!

(Shhhh - don't tell Bill we ate on the counter....he thinks that is irresponsible and is constantly telling me not to do it)
We built a fort out of the couch and blankets.....

We convinced our BFF's to skip school too and join us for some sledding....

We ate lunch at McDonald's and played the Wii for hours
(but we were having too much fun to take pictures)
WHO WANTS TO SKIP SCHOOL TOMORROW?!?! We'll join you!
Oh...and that nap we were supposed to take....never happened.

I am ready to skip tomorrow! Count me in. I love those little people! What a fun day and thanks for letting me come and watch for a little bit. Chiara you are the best Mom in the whole world!! Love ya all, Nani
Let's hope the school system doesn't read the parents' blogs or somebody is going to be in trouble! I would quickly go back and edit it to say that someone was feeling a little sick today and that's why the kids missed school. What a great mom. It sounds like you had a lot of fun and I can guarantee that your kids will remember this for a long time to come!
You seriously are the best mom. I'm taking notes.
You're the cutest! I think kids just need a day off now and then...and so do Moms! I am so going to do this when I have school age kids:)
WE skipped school too! Somedays its needed!
I echo everyone else: What a great mom you are! I don't know if Anna could deal with the stress of skipping out- I think that shows me I need to make her do it more often!
I love skipping school! Maybe if you keep letting them have skip days they will start liking you more than mom ; ) haha Just kidding they love you and your a great mom! Looks like a fun day. Sister is so dang cute in her snow clothes!
thanks for the fun! and yes you're the best mom, even asher said so. when i asked him if he thought i was a cool mom for letting him ditch he said, "well it was chiara's idea"
Although I am still a little hurt that I wasn't invited.. It looks like you guys had a great day together. You really are an awesome Mom War. Your kids are very lucky.
ok so how fun are you!!! i love it!! i wanna be your kid!! you're so cute chiara!
Haha - that's awesome. I think it should be a monthly thing if they're good and earn it :)
Awesome idea! How come you didn't have those fun ideas years ago when we were skipping school?!? Instead we spent the whole day in your lousy van! ;) I am totally going to steal all those ideas and post it on my blog so everyone will tell me what a wonderful mom I am! ;) Although we don't have any fun snow to go sledding in... and I highly doubt I have a friend here I could convince to ditch with me... so it may not work out so well. ;)
Awww, funnest day ever! I loved skipping school even if it was by myself, but to have my mom suggest it and play with me all day would've been soooo much fun!!
Oh my dear Chiara- love the idea! You are darling...man if only my boys had such a fun mom- I LOVE SCHOOL- no wrestling, and no talking back (which is definitly on the hot list lately!)for a good 6 1/2 hours- I get a breather! Too bad for the Conover boys- maybe one day!
