Coveting....

I have a little secret.....
I covet.
A lot.
A lot of things, and a lot of people.
I know I shouldn't....but I do.
It's kind of fun.
Admit it.
You totally do it too!

For example....
Look at this Fridge.
I want this fridge:

I want everything in it....

But instead....
I have this fridge:
And I didn't even dare take a picture of the inside....
The outside is bad enough...
you'll just have to use your imagination for the inside.

(And I seriously about peed my pants when I was studying the sadness of this picture and realized the three things I have ON TOP of my fridge.
#1 -Mason's recorder that is supposed to be practicing 10 minutes a night. Can you imagine 10 minutes of listening to a recorder every night? And he only has 2 songs to learn! It makes me want to run out the front door and not stop!
#2 - Marley's darling doll stroller from Pottery Barn. I own nothing Pottery Barn for a reason. Nice grandparents give Marley more credit than I do. I refuse to let her break this....so I pull it down everyday to let her play with it, then 3 minutes later I pull HER OUT OF IT and put it back on top of the fridge while she screams, hits me, and throws herself on the floor like a dead fish.
#3 - Madden's whip from scout camp. Enough said.)

I want this pantry:

But instead I have this one:

I want this laundry room:

But instead I have this one:

And then I think about the people in Japan who watched their houses float down the street or get smashed into nothing and lost everything inside. And I think to myself, "You spoiled, selfish brat! Be grateful for what you have!"
And then I am...I really, really am....for a few minutes.

I'm horrible! I really, really am.
Is there therapy for this kind of thing?

I beg your pardon curry! It is not really dirty! I have raised my girls better than that. It is just what happens in the day to day living especially with children. It is what I shall call. Sweet children clutter! Love you both! And I especially love those sweet little darlings who create such clutter. They are the absolute best!!!!

Hey, did you sneak into my house and take a picture of my amazing fridge, laundry room and pantry. I thought that was you. Chiara... my fridge, pantry and laundry room look just like YOURS... we are human. And we even have the same washer and dryer. At least we are THAT cool to have a awesome front loader =) And note... if your house is clean, you are neglecting your kids... or you have a house keeper.

That last comment was from me your sweet mother, not mr. haycock sir!! Just because he has taken over my laptop and is on it twenty four seven doesn't mean it is his!

This is the best post ever for two reasons:

1) It is so freakin true! i have a horrible coveting problem. I didn't have it when we had zero job and zero income, but all of sudden since we do have a job and income.... I think I deserve the world!?!

2) because it is YOUR fridge and laundry room that looks like that. Mine looks like that on a daily basis (or worse)... but i never thought perfect, neat freak, Chiara's did!!! you truly made my day. thank you!!! :)

PS. for what it is worth... your fridge is nicer than mine, I don't have a front loader washer or dryer, and your pantry is about four times the size of mine (and four times more stocked)! So if you need to feel better... you can just come on over to my house anytime! :)

OK, this is so funny. I totally follow house of Smith's blog, and I look at her clean, organized house, withher picture perfect pantry, and think, what the heck? And I usually come up with she MUST ignore her kids! Also, i know it cant always look that good. She cleans for pictures! Well, that's what I tell myself when I look around at my trashed house anyway...

Hahaha- I literally laughed out loud at the three things on top of your fridge. Madden's whip being the funniest hahahahaha.

Have you seen Pinterest? It allows you to "pin" these pictures and save them with links for later reference. Kind of cool, you should check it out! I love all your true-to-life pictures!

Um I don't even have a laundry room OR a pantry so I covet yours! I will take them even if they are messy!

I love this. I had to show this post to Rhett because it was so awesome. I covet, too, and my house looks so much worse than yours! I love that you have that stuff on your fridge - we finally gave up on that stroller and now it lives in the backyard (we don't have room on top of the fridge, or I might do that, too). Thanks for the laugh - you are hilarious.
