Spelling

Madden's spelling assignment last night:
Use 10 spelling words in a story.
Behold, the story........

"My grandma is the matriarch of her house. My grandma is an anarchist and a democrat. My Grandpa is a patriarch. They want to be aristocrats. At their time they had anarchy. They didn't want anarchy, they wanted matriarchy. Their friend was hierarchical. Now they have patriarchy."

I can't stop laughing.....
If I knew what any of his words actually meant,
I maybe could have helped him....
good thing this is a spelling test and not a vocabulary test!

I used to think I was a great speller! I won a spelling bee in 3rd and 4th grade. Then recently I realized.... yea...not so great. Those are some INTENSE words for a young lad!! yowzers!!! I thought Lily's second grade spelling list was a little crazy but when she spelled them all I thought BRAVO!! I was told by her "mom, if we USE the words in a sentence they halp us pronounce them which then helps us spell them, dont make it seem harder than it is." chin to the floor......

How about giving the kid some spelling words people actually USE!?!? Seriously! What is up with that? Too funny!

Oh my gosh... this is awesome. I understand, sort of, learning matriarch, patriarch and democrat... but why would they teach kids what an anarchist is?
