MASON'S BAPTISM

We gathered together as much family as possible and made a quick trip up to the cabin in Island Park, ID to follow family tradition and baptize Mason a member of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Snake River on his birthday....November 15th. Mason did not want to wait until summer when the weather would be a bit better nor did he want to forgo the incredible experience he has watched all his older cousins enjoy. So, even though it was 32 degrees outside, with ice forming on the banks of the river, and a blanket of beautiful white snow on the ground.....we baptized our boy. And what an amazing experience it was. There wasn't a dry eye in the group as Bill was barely able to speak the prayer and Mason was lowered into the water. The combination of the company we were with, the beautiful surroundings, and the incredibly strong spirit were more than we could bare. It will be a memory we will never forget.

As we wisked him away wrapped in towels to the warm car parked nearby the bank of the river, I was sure my boy had slipped into a coma!! He was in shock for sure! He couldn't talk and was slightly lethargic looking....and I had a small "I am the worst mother" moment. But after jumping in the car and taking all his wet clothes off and wrapping him up again in heated towels....all was well. His first words were, "That wasn't so bad!" (we prepped him quite a bit about it being really really cold. We didn't want him to have any surprises.) Then he proceeded to talk nonstop about "how cool that was" as Bill drove as fast as he could back to the cabin where they both took a nice hot shower. We finished the evening with the confirmation, Mason's favorite dinner (Spaghetti and meatballs), and opening of birthday presents and eating yummy cheesecake! I'm fairly sure life couldn't get any better! I love my family!

What a great experience!! That is so cool! We talked about doing that in the Snake River in Idaho Falls behind my parents home in December ... but decided December is not prime time for outside baptisms. We are still going to do it in Idaho Falls. We are so excited to experience this!

Way to go Mace-O! Congrats! Too awesome. Are you sure Bill couldn't spit those words out in the prayer because he was so touched by the spirit...or because he was going into hypothermic shock?! ;)
