My baby is EIGHT! A part of me wants to cry and another part of me is in awe at what a wonderful child I have been blessed with and how grateful I am that he IS eight!! He is such a good example to everyone who knows him.
Some things I want to remember about Mason at this age:
*He loves to sing. Every week in church he sings along in the Hymn book with gusto and vigor! And as he sings he bobs his head up and down. Bill and I spend most of the meeting watching him....it's too cute.
*He loves weird toys. And I say "weird" because they are just that....WEIRD! Any action figure/tv show that was "born" in Asia, China, or Japan....that uses names and words that I can't understand or say if I tried - Mason is ALL OVER IT! Pokemon, Bakugan, Digimon, Dragonoid, Mewtwo, Avatar, Yu-gi-oh...
*Mason is afraid of spiders. Doesn't freak out when he SEES one....but THINKING about them crawling on him in the middle of the night just sends him over the edge. Every night in our family prayers we are required to "bless the bugs and spiders to stay outside and not come in our house and especially not in Mason's room." And just for extra precaution Mason sleeps with a fleece blanket wrapped tight around his whole head...just his little face showing....even in the summertime. Wakes up sweating bullets....but at least those spiders didn't get him! ;)-
*Mason still doesn't like "the good stuff." You can't get this kid to eat cake, cookies, brownies, ice cream, or anything chocolate if you tried. He would never pass up a Krispie Kreme donut...but his favorite "dessert" item is corn on the cob. Who knew corn on the cob could fit into the dessert catagory?!?!
Mason shares his birthday with his Aunt Curry - and we had a wonderful Birthday up at the cabin with all our family. Mason got a pocket knife. He has been looking forward to this day for years and was told when he turned 8 and went into scouts he could get one. This is his new prize possesion and he loves it more than anything! He is still in the "learning the rules" phase but is excited to move on to actually getting to use it.

Mason is such a stud. I love that little boy..although he is not so little anymore :(
Mason is a man after my own heart...I must confess I have had a many of nights where I tore through the sheets before I got into bed making sure there were no spiders and have said more than my fair share of prayers asking there to not be any spiders in my bed...don't laugh!
Yay for Bakugan!
